Using the snail treating certain skin conditions, it has existed for thousands of years. The ancient doctor Hippocrates (460-370 BC) recommended sour milk mixed with crushed snails for treating the skin inflammation.

The snail has survived the harsh environmental conditions, because of his body secretions which help the skin to heal faster. The accumulated genetic information is extremely valuable. In the 16th century, Ambroise Paré, a surgeon from the court of king of France, recognized as the father of the modern surgery has recommended snail secretions for treating the skin stretched during the pregnancy.

In 1961, Iglesias Abad, an oncologist from Madrid, studied this matter for many years and had a significant success treating victims of Chernobyl. In 1981, a farmer from Chile, which deals with snail farming, has observed that the skin on the hands of his son have a unusual smoothness, and his wounds have healed very quickly.

These findings have prompted conducting studies, to learn how the snail secretion could treat complexions affected by acne, wounds, deep wrinkles, pollution or aging caused by sun exposure. After 9 years of study, the first cosmetics cream based by snail secretion was launched on the market in the early 90s. There are already several cosmetics products in Europe and the USA, which contain this substance.

Genmar Cosmetics Company, since its inception (1994) was dedicated to research, in order to obtain high quality products. Thus, he managed to be the first company in the country, which started production of a line of cosmetics based on snail extract, in 2000.

The HERBAGEN line includes 6 products with snail extract (creams, gels, serums) and enjoys wide recognition both in the Romanian market and in Europe (especially France and Belgium). The active substance comes from Chile and is harvested from Helix Aspersa snail species recognized by the quality of components: allantoin, proteins, vitamins, alpha-hydroxy acids, mucopolysaccharides, proteolytic enzymes, collagen and elastin.

The snail secretion is a complete and balanced solution for the products destined to the skin, created by a living being in order to protect, heal, regenerate and moisturize his own skin.
